The first in an ongoing series of the many wonderful stories that crop up unfailingly regularly in the music profession…
The Lunch Invitation
So, a close friend of mine, X, is driving to the house of Mr Very Famous Composer for lunch. Classic fm is playing on the radio. The lunchtime requests programme comes on. “Call now to choose the music!“.
A prank call seems a perfect way to while away a boring car journey, so X picks up his mobile phone (hands-free, of course), and puts on his very best Mr Bean-style voice for the Classic fm voicemail. “Helleuhhh. I’d like to heeeear a pieeece by Mr Very Famous Composer…. …becaaause I’m ooon my waaaay to have luuuunch with him!”. Hangs up.
Twenty minutes later, what should he hear on the radio but his own voice…. “Helleuhhh. I’d like….”. Result!

Not long afterwards, he rolls up at Mr Very Famous Composer’s house. Mrs Very Famous Composer answers the door, with a look of mock rage upon her face… “X! Come in here!”
X walks into the house and enters the kitchen, only to find that Mrs Very Famous Composer has been cooking the lunch… …to the sound of Classic fm...
