Backing Up

backup driveA reader quite reasonably asks why the stolen recordings were not fully backed up, and I feel compelled to reply…

Quite simply, they were! But the robbers took some of the backup drives as well.

What they didn’t take were the spare drives that stored the original source files of the Imo recording session (thank goodness!). That wasn’t the case for the Choir disc, which was so new that it hadn’t yet been backed up off-site. That will have to be completely re-recorded in the New Year.

I’ve been working on the Imo Duo again this morning, preparing it for the first concert in Cheltenham on 2nd November (I’m listening to a fragment of the recording that Tommy’s just sent through, as I type). It’s such a great piece; very dramatic and full of memorable motifs. How familiar was Imo with the duos of Ravel and Kodaly I wonder?
