Guiding principle: Traditional Values, Contemporary Context.

Genres: Classical & Contemporary. The Virtuoso tradition (Paganini through Kreisler and beyond). String Quartets. Violin Concertos. Collaborations with composers. All types of music for strings. Mashups of all the above. I’m also beginning to research jazz and folk violin.

Music: Primarily my own projects, the majority of which are with FIFTH QUADRANT people. Also classical chamber music and a number of violin concertos + classic violin-orientated recital programs.

I can talk for hours about why the Second Viennese School was the musical equivalent of Lehman Brothers, so it won’t surprise you that I mostly perform music that has tunes.People: I’m mostly working with my group FIFTH QUADRANT right now. Collaborators in 2010-2011 include Daniel Swain & Drew Balch of 5Q, plus Al Kamandjati & Peter Sulski, Dal’Ouna, Antony Pitts & Tonus Peregrinus, Harmony Sinfonia, and more to be announced…

Venues: Concert Hall, nightclub, radio/tv studio, outdoor festival stage, boat, recording studio, cathedral, hospital, investment bank, royal palace, prison, embassy, special school, tent, field, refugee camp, hotel etc.

Venues to do: underwater, on the moon, in the air. (if you can help with these, let me know! I’m quite serious)

Recordings: I have worked on several film scores and for several major non-classical artists (Massive Attack, Elton John, The Kooks, Andrea Corr, etc.). I have a top quality network of professional wooden box scrapers and soundwave tweakers in London and New York who can be assembled at the studio of your choice. It’s a funny way to earn a living but we’re very good at it.

Education: Our global future is defined by our education system. I’ve created literally hundreds of education events for adults and children of all levels of ability and disability. When time permits, I am always delighted to do this. I do a small amount of teaching too (by video broadband or in London, and occasionally New York or Jerusalem too). It’s one of the most fascinating things.
