The Classical Sessions

I’ve always been fascinated by getting people engaged with Classical music even if they don’t know anything about it. Hell, especially if they don’t know anything about it!

Classical music is, like any other music, a bunch of sound waves. OK, so it’s quite a complex set of soundwaves, so the more you know about it the more you can listen out for, and the more you might enjoy it.

But that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy it if you don’t know much about it!

I like to play about with the context and presentation of the Classics, to see if it’s possible to make Classical music accessible without ‘dumbing down’ or resorting to gimmicks. Or indeed changing the music itself and ending up with some kind of mediocre ‘crossover’ music.

So when Henley Festival commissioned us to come up with four fast-paced, hour-long evening shows, I was determined to present some of the greatest Classical Music in a punchy, energetic presentation suitable for anyone and everyone!

More soon about this project…
