COMING CHRISTMAS 2016 - CHRISTMAS PARTY!
Coming soon... A new Christmas single by Thomas Hewitt Jones, performed by Simon with Gavin Sutherland and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia! Watch this space...! Here's a tiny sneak preview...
Bruch's Violin Concerto No.1 (1st Movement - Allegro Moderato). With Lindsay Ryan and Harmony Sinfonia.
A version of Over the Rainbow, based on a 'realization' by George Shearing. Further 'realized' by Daniel Swain... (from a live webcast at The Forge, London)
My first short film! Featuring the students of ViolinSchool. Soundtrack by THJ, played by me & the students!
Some clips i wasn't aware of snapped by someone i don't know at a concert I can't remember. I think this might have been at the Rising Sun in Reading, probably summer of 2012.
1) a chunk of the Bartok Romanian Dances. With some bonus page-turning and an ominous harmonic disintegration seconds before the clip ends. What happened next? I genuinely don't remember...
That's definitely Neil Georgeson on the piano. An epic musician, and the best-dressed piano player in the history of the Shetland islands!
2) a snippet of The Violin Player (THJ's thing). Weirdly, it averages out at approx 59 beats per min whereas the one from 2007 (scroll down) is c. 72 bpm. That means I'm getting slower at a rate of 3.25bpm/year. So you can expect me to come to a complete stop by the year 2030...!
2012 (warning: explicit language!)
Last dry run before our gig at the Barbican in 2012.
Live rough cut of me and Dave chiding Classical Revolution London Soho
Truly amazing technology.
Filmed at the Roundhouse in Camden, London
Viennese sweetmeat + classical haircut. Live recital at Bridgewater Hall, Manchester with pianist Daniel Swain.
After a week spent soaking up the sounds of Old City Jerusalem for the first time, my brain needed some time to process it all. This little improvisation was my instinctive response to calls to prayer, sirens, street traders, religious squawkers, and goodness knows what else...
The Violin Player
The original recording of 'The Violin Player' by THJ. The most bittersweet piece I know.
